ABOUT ME

Dr. techn. Norbert Mayrhofer
"My many years of experience come from the turbomachinery, automotive engineering, energy systems, and refrigeration technology sectors.
There, I was involved in university research, industrial R&D, product management, as well as project and team leadership."
My technical training began at the HTL (Higher Technical College for Electrical Engineering), which I followed with a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus on traffic engineering. This combination ultimately led me to delve into optical measurement technology for my diploma thesis under Prof. J. Woisetschläger. There, at the Institute of Thermal Turbomachinery at Graz University of Technology, I had the unique opportunity to develop numerous optical methods available at the time and apply them to compressible flows, as well as to participate in the construction of the laboratories. Regular comparison of measurement results against simulation contributed significantly to the improvement of laboratory quality, as well as to my focus on quality and documentation.
After completing my doctorate, I worked in the automotive industry specializing in measurement technology, focusing on vibration, component load, and friction. This allowed me to gain experience with a wide range of engines and components: from passenger car engines and large engines to motorsports and electrified drive systems. After various positions, I led a flexible engineering team for special measurement technology .
Over the last few years, I have been working intensively on the instrumentation of refrigeration compressors for a modern development process, introducing state-of-the-art measurement methods from the automotive world as well as latest sensor technology.
"I see my strength as a bridge between mechanical engineering and measurement technology, especially as a link between simulation and testing."
